Hello everyone. I am Catherine Hammond and I live in south Central Virginia, though I’m originally from northwest Indiana about an hour outside of Chicago. I am currently finishing up my 2nd degree with Liberty University. I previously completed a non-licensure Ed.S. Degree in Educational Leadership. This course, Education 638, is my last course in a Masters in Educational Technology and Online Instruction. Currently I am not working in the educational field. I just completed full time volunteer work with a local church in media areas: creating graphics and replicating sound files, editing texts, minor computer troubleshooting, working on a new webpage, and finishing special projects – whatever needed to be done. One of my favorite life scriptures is: “Whatsoever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men.” Another favorite is: “though I speak with the tongue of men and of angels and have not love I am a sounding gong and a clanging symbol”. In my free time I love worship music, to relax with Christian fiction and to create things, like clothing, church banners and other crafts. As I look at this course I would like to learn more about communicating with young people. I just finished creating a fairly comprehensive cyber security website for middle school students. I would love to do more in the way of encouraging and informing young people about being and staying safe when they use social media and the internet. My motivation is to see them become what God created them for and that they would not be sidetracked by the enemy’s tactics or devices. This is probably due to the roughness of my own upbringing and subsequent deliverance by God. When I think about someone playing my life in a movie I’m really not sure who I would choose. God created us all uniquely and we have all had our own special sets of challenges, so I can’t think of anyone who could adequately play my life. I’m not trying to be difficult, just don’t know of any actresses who are really sold out to God – there might be some but I don’t go to movies enough to know of them. Thank you for listening and have a blessed day.
